A responsive digital body places care and damage within the same participatory system. Developed from Intervention within The Funeral, the work was presented at LUCKY777 alongside a making video and Record.

From Intervention to RE:INTERVENTION

RE:INTERVENTION develops Intervention, a work within Meta Rose: The Funeral, into a separate presentation. It was shown in the LUCKY777 group exhibition presented by Platform Presents at Abbotsford Convent on 10 and 11 October 2026. This presentation is distinct from both the August Seoul exhibition and the September-October Melbourne Fringe configuration.

The work draws on vanitas and memento mori through the overlap of rose and skeleton. The rose carries the possibility of decay within its beauty, while the skeletal figure retains the trace of a body that lived. Rather than treating these as separate symbols, the work brings life, death, care and damage into a body whose condition changes through participation.

Participation and the responsive body

Physical buttons let visitors intervene in a responsive digital body. A forehead-mounted webcam and body tracking connect the person who acts with the image being altered. The participant becomes both an agent within the system and a witness to the consequences of their choices.

A screenshot interaction preserves a selected moment and returns it through the Phone Hub as a trace of a decision. The image records an action within the work, rather than diagnosing the participant’s feelings. Care and harm are not resolved into a correct sequence: the work keeps their consequences available to attention.

Record and the making process

The LUCKY777 presentation also screened a behind-the-scenes video and Record, the fourth work developed within The Funeral. These moving-image elements retain the labour, tests and repetitions behind the interactive system. The programme brought this moving-image material alongside the interactive RE:INTERVENTION work.
